Western Mindanao Power Corporation


is a partnership among AEV, Conal Holdings Corporation (CHC) and Tomen Power Singapore (TPS), incorporated in 1996 to implement the Energy Conversion Agreement (“ECA”) with National Power Corporation (“NPC”) covering the Zamboanga 100 MW Bunker-C Fired Power Station. Under the ECA which has an 18-year term running all the way up to December 2015, WMPC converts fuel supplied by NPC into electricity for exclusive delivery to the Mindanao Grid.


Located in Sangali, Zamboanga City, the WMPC power station is equipped with ten (10) units of Wärtsilä 18V38 diesel generating sets each with a net capacity of 10 megaWatts. Aside from providing much needed capacity to the Zamboanga Peninsula, WMPC also performs the role of voltage regulator for Zamboanga City ensuring the availability, reliability, and quality of power supply in the area. The WMPC power station is among the most efficient diesel plants in the country, continuously meeting its performance guarantees to NPC.
